Kelly Franklin
Kelly Franklin currently serves at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the Associate Director of the Mosaic Storytelling Lab in the Carl G. Grefenstette Center for Ethics in Science, Technology and Law. Kelly carries many years of higher education and teaching experience at the K-16 levels, and has previously served in instructional coaching and literacy specialist roles.
Kelly is completing her Ph.D. in English Rhetoric and Composition at Texas Christian University, earned her M.A. in English Literature from Boise State University, and her B.A. in American Literature from UCLA. Her research interests include Black Feminist Theory and Pedagogy, Anti-Racist Pedagogy, Black Literacies, and First-Year Writing Composition. Her work has appeared in journals such as Writer’s: Craft & Context; Peitho; English Teaching: Practice and Critique; and The Sandbox: Short Papers, Big Ideas on Literacy and Learning. Kelly is a wife and mother of four beautiful children, including two boys who not only keep her on the football fields but help her extend her football theorization into community based praxis.
