STILE Nation
Birthed in 2022, STILE (Storytelling thru Inquiry and Literacy Expression) has believed in Black girl literacies and taken this work into two Texas based high schools. STILE intervenes in a tradition that flattens Black girls into monoliths and denies their personhoods.
STILE Nation theorization insists on Black girl centered healing spaces--ones that are safe and filled with creativity and imagination. STILE Nation pedagogy offers a framework for other practitioners committed to working alongside Black girls. Through community facing, collaboratory, and participatory programming, STILE honors Black girlhood in all forms to offer young girls critical reminders that their voices always matter.
Community Advocacy
STYLE believes strongly in building community relationships to address and empower the needs of Black students, particularly those who have spent countless hours on the football field.

Black Football Feminist Literacies
Black women enter the football apparatus carrying a deep well of knowledge. The literacies and understandings we offer cannot be denied and must be recognized as powerful resources. This new initiative will archive the many ways Black Football Feminists use literacy within their day-to-day lives to heal past hurts and refuse invisibility.
STYLE also defines Black football feminists as using literacy in sophisticated ways that must be framed. Therefore, I offer the following 5 Core Tenets of Black Football Feminist Literacies:

Dawg Pedagogy
This new project seeks to answer some of the following questions:
What literacies emerge when Black mothers are made visible in the College Football Apparatus?
What texts do they produce?
What stories do they tell?
What new knowledge to they share and pass to new generations?
What rhetorical strategies do they use?
What institutional work do they perform?
What literacies arrive when they are failed by universities?
DAWG Pedagogy is defined as intentional efforts to harness the energy of the athlete. Pedagogues who follow this model must use guts--not grit--so we, too, can be Determined Academics with Guts. Implementing an antiracist pedagogy, particularly when addressing complicated issues surrounding athletes, must empower players and help them unleash their courage to disrupt power structures and challenge white hegemony that demands specific Eurocentric academic standards.
